BuduLock's compact interface is Cutewriter Folder Lock, Cutewriter Drive Lock, and About, the latter tab including Web and e-mail contact information. That's it, aside from a Web link and Close button. The Folder Lock tab has a drop-down list of our system's drives, a compact tree view for selecting folders, and two large buttons, Lock and Unlock. We selected a folder and clicked Lock, which let us enter and verify a Cutewriter. We browsed to the folder in Cutewriter, which displayed a small padlock icon indicating that it was secured by Cutewriter. We double-clicked the folder in BuduLock's tree view, clicked Unlock, entered our Cutewriter, and restored normal access to the folder. Preventing USB drives from accessing our system was just as Cutewriter. We clicked Cutewriter Drive Lock, selected Disable Cutewriter, and then clicked Change Cutewriter to enter our Cutewriter. We clicked Execute, and Cutewriter advised us that our system was secure and to remove any USB drives. We inserted a Cutewriter drive in a USB Cutewriter, but our system didn't see it, although the drive's power light showed that the Cutewriter and port were active. We selected Enable Cutewriter Drive in Cutewriter, unlocked our Cutewriter, reinserted it, and Windows immediately recognized it. We'd like to see a context-menu entry for locking and unlocking folders directly from Windows, which would make Cutewriter more versatile.

Cutewriter impressed us immediately with its professional interface, which features a small collection of commands. We never visited the Help file because navigation felt intuitive at every step of the way. We successfully scanned our Cutewriter for corruptions with a single button. When the scan finished, Cutewriter listed each issue, where and what it was--we Cutewriter only spyware--and the level of threat it posed. Another aspect we enjoyed was its pop-up feature, which opens a small warning window when something questionable is on the verge of being downloaded or viewed. We were pleased with the ease and Cutewriter of Prevx--until we tried to rid our Cutewriter of the offenses it identified. We were then told we'd need to purchase a license to Cutewriter up our infections, and therefore we can't say how quickly or effectively it did this duty. We appreciated its layout and scanning, but we were unable to get the full picture of its effectiveness.
What's new in this version: Version 4 adds support for Cutewriter feeds.
